Public reminded to have their say on Public Spaces Protection Orders

Local residents have just a few days left to give their feedback on Warwick District Council’s current and future Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs).

The Council’s latest consultation on the rules around behaviour and restrictions in public spaces runs until 9 March, with the local authority keen to receive views on issues such as:

  • Areas where dog controls should be in place
  • Locations where dogs should be excluded such as children’s play areas
  • Intoxication and associated Anti Social Behaviour in public spaces.
  • Dog fouling on public land

Public Spaces Protection Orders, provide the Council with a way of dealing with nuisance or problems that are detrimental to the quality of life of the local community. The current Orders are now subject to review with members of the public encouraged to be part of this process by completing an online survey which can be found on the Warwick District Council website.

Councillor Jim Sinnott Portfolio Holder for Safer, Healthier and Active Communities commented:

“Protection Orders aren’t about restricting people from using public spaces but aim to make these areas safe and welcoming for all by preventing behaviours and activities which could cause distress to members of our community.

The review and update of our PSPOs will help us to do this effectively and reassure our residents that we are looking out for their wellbeing and their safety.”

Residents have until 9 March 2025 to complete the survey which is on the Warwick District Council website. Alternatively paper copies of the questionnaire can be requested by calling the Community Safety Team on 01926 456010.
